The Precious Puppy Health Guarantee

Guarantee Terms & Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to all purchases made with The Precious Puppy. By signing below via electronic signature, you (referred to henceforth as “Buyer”) agree to all terms and conditions.

The Precious Puppy is committed to providing our customers with the healthiest pet quality puppies available and to provide the most accurate information on continued care for those pets. All The Precious Puppy puppies receive regular care under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. All The Precious Puppy puppies are up to date on vaccinations and worming (vaccinations given according to the pet’s age). As this pet’s new owner the Buyer is now required to continue with any and all follow up vaccinations, worming and exams that are recommended by the veterinarian. The Buyer is also responsible for the costs necessary to complete those vaccinations, worming, and exams. No one can prevent every problem, so in order to ensure your continued happiness with your new puppy, The Precious Puppy provides the following warranties.

Veterinary Examination

To validate this guarantee The Precious Puppy requires you to take your new puppy to a licensed veterinarian within Three (3) days of your puppy’s arrival. Failure to take your new puppy to a licensed veterinarian within the Three (3) days nullifies the entire puppy guarantee.   Any and all tests, heartworm preventatives, vaccinations and medications that are authorized by the Buyer are the sole responsibility of that Buyer. The Precious Puppy is not responsible for the charges incurred for these services. Should you be unable to make this exam, you must contact The Precious Puppy prior to the expiration of the 3-day period.

Telephone and E-Mail Notification

Any problems or disorders diagnosed by a veterinarian must be brought to the attention of The Precious Puppy BY TELEPHONE AND BY E-MAIL via our electronic concern form the same day of diagnosis in order to qualify for any credit or otherwise applicable benefits. 

What We Cover

  1. Angular Limb Deformities due to Premature Closure of Distal Ulnar Physis – This condition is only considered hereditary in Skye Terriers.  Therefore, The Precious Puppy will not be held responsible for this condition found in any other breeds.
  2. Behavioral Issues – Primarily, a pet’s environment and treatment from its owner affect a pet’s behavior. Due to the complexity of behavioral issues and our inability to control the puppy’s environment, The Precious Puppy is not responsible for any behavioral issues.
  3. Breed Standard – The Precious Puppy guarantees that all pets it supplies to be reasonable representatives of their represented breeds. Puppies have much growing to do and as such, an accurate evaluation at an early age is virtually impossible. As many problems in this area are determined by opinion as opposed to medical fact, any dispute is to be decided at the discretion of a breed standard committee appointed by The Precious Puppy. Should the committee rule that the puppy is not a reasonable representative of its breed, a partial credit will be issued to the Buyer.  The credit will not exceed 50% of the purchase price of the pet.  This condition does not affect the companionship qualities of the pet.  The Buyer is required to supply pictures to The Precious Puppy for evaluation.
  4. Canine Parvovirus and Distemper Virus, Hepatitis and Canine Influenza – covered up to 14 days after you puppy’s arrival.  The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  5. Deafness – covered for 14 days after your puppy’s arrival. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  6. Demodicosis – covered up to 1 year of age and substantiated by a licensed veterinarian.  At the option of The Precious Puppy, we may request close-up photos of the pet.  Localized demodicosis is easily treated and is covered under this guarantee to reasonable veterinary expenses.  The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  7. Entropia/Cherry Eye – covered for 14 days after you puppy’s arrival. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  8. Fungal Infections/Ringworm – covered up to 14 days after your puppy’s arrival. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  9. Heart Murmurs – All heart murmurs must be diagnosed during the pet’s initial veterinary exam as it is not the policy of The Precious Puppy to ship pets with this condition. Many heart murmurs occur for a multitude of reasons that hold no consequence to the pet’s quality of life. Any heart murmur diagnosed after the initial examination must affect the quality of the pet’s life, as determined by The Precious Puppy, and must require daily medication to qualify for this guarantee.  The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian. The Precious Puppy must receive notification of diagnosis BY E-MAIL AND TELEPHONE on the day of diagnosis.
  10. Hereditary Conditions and Disorders – covered for up to 1 year of age for any hereditary condition that affects the quality of the pet’s life, as determined by The Precious Puppy, excluding any exceptions specifically covered in this guarantee. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  11. Hernia/Hernia Repairs – This condition must be diagnosed during the initial veterinary examination as it is the policy of The Precious Puppy to treat any puppy with this condition prior to shipment. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  12. Hip Dysplasia –If during the first year from the date of purchase your new puppy should be diagnosed as having debilitating hip dysplasia, The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy, to correct the defect if possible. OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. The Precious Puppy, upon consultation with our veterinarians, retains the right to determine the definition of “Debilitating Hip Dysplasia.” In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by, x-rays of the hips specifically for evaluation of the hips, pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian. Upon request the x-rays can be returned after our veterinarian has had a chance to evaluate them. The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  13. Hygromas – Hygromas are an environmental injury and are not covered by this guarantee. Hygromas are caused when a dog spends too much time laying on a hard surface like concrete.  Many times this issue can be prevented and resolved by supplying the pet with softer bedding or changing the pet’s environment.
  14. Hypoglycemia – Hypoglycemia is a common problem among toy breeds, and The Precious Puppy reminds the Buyer to take the proper precautions to prevent hypoglycemia. The Precious Puppy covers Hypoglycemia up to 24 hours after your puppy’s arrival. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  15. Internal Parasites (Roundworms, Hookworms, Tapeworms, Giardia, Coccidia) – The Precious puppy will cover the cost of medication for treatment of internal parasites only if diagnosed within 7 days after your puppy’s arrival. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  16. Luxating Patellas – Luxating patellas must be diagnosed as hereditary during initial veterinary examination and reported within 72 hours after your puppy’s arrival, as it is not our policy to ship pets with this condition.  As many factors affect luxating patellas, The Precious Puppy will not be held accountable for any luxating patellas diagnosed after the pet’s initial veterinary exam. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  17. Monorchid/Cryptorchid Puppies – This condition must be diagnosed during the initial veterinary examination as it is the policy of The Precious puppy not to ship any puppy with this condition.  The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  18. Open Fontanel – This condition is common in some breeds, and in no way affects the pet’s quality of life. Complications attributed to this disorder are covered until the pet reaches one year of age. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  19. Osteochondrosis Dessicans (OCD) – OCD is considered a developmental disorder and is not considered hereditary. OCD is not covered under this guarantee.
  20. Respiratory Infections – covered up to 14 days after your puppy’s arrival, providing that the infection is serious enough to require hospitalization of the pet. The Precious Puppy will pay any related hospitalization expenses up to the Buyer’s cost of the pet.  Minor infections that do not require hospitalization are not covered by this guarantee. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  21. Seizures – covered for up to 1 year of age for and only when the condition is serious enough to require daily medication and affect the quality of the pet’s life, as determined by The Precious Puppy. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  22. Size & Weight – The size to which a puppy grows to is governed by nature, and as such The Precious Puppy does not guarantee the size of an adult dog. A pet’s weight is determined by the owner’s choices in feeding habits, and as such The Precious Puppy cannot guarantee the weight of an adult dog.
  23. Stenotic Nares – must be diagnosed during the pet’s initial veterinary examination as it is The Precious Puppy’s policy not to ship pets with this condition. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.
  24. Underbite & Overbite – must be diagnosed during the initial veterinary examination. Small breeds with 1/8" or less under bite and large breeds with a 1/4" or less under bite when the standard allows an under bite are ineligible for credit.  Overbites equal to or less than 1/8" are ineligible for credit.  Malocclusions are ineligible for credit and do not accurately reflect the occlusion of the permanent teeth. The Precious Puppy will, at our option, (1) Pay veterinary cost, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  OR (2) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value. All Registration Papers for that puppy must be returned to The Precious Puppy. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by pertinent medical records of the puppy and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian.  These can be faxed to Customer Service at 317-291-7087.  Make sure to include in the cover sheet the puppy’s collar number and the purchaser’s name and contact number.  The Precious Puppy must receive notification when symptoms first appear by TELEPHONE AND THE ONLINE CONCERN FORM.

Returns

The Precious Puppy does not offer returns on puppies for any reason except those explicitly covered in the health guarantee.  Any appropriate returns will be granted in the form of replacement credit. The Buyer is responsible for any and all shipping charges in the event of a return. The Precious Puppy does not grant refunds or accept returns due to weather or shipping problems. If you are eligible for a return under the provisions of this warranty, you must return any registration or registration application documents for this puppy that have been delivered to you.

General Terms & Conditions

  1. The puppies at The Precious Puppy are fed Nutro Natural Choice Puppy Food, correct snacks and chew items. In order to qualify for any conditions within this guarantee, all pets must remain on this diet for at least 30 days.
  2. In order to initially qualify for this guarantee, the Buyer must purchase the Puppy Essentials Kit from The Precious Puppy. The Puppy Essentials Kit must be purchased at the same time as your puppy to qualify for the guarantee. Any kits purchased after the purchase of the puppy do not validate this guarantee.
  3. In order to initially qualify for this guarantee, the Buyer must contact The Precious Puppy's customer service department within 24 hours of delivery of the puppy.
  4. If you are eligible for a credit under the provisions of this warranty, you must return any registration or registration application documents for this puppy that have been delivered to you.
  5. The Precious Puppy is not responsible for the veterinary treatment of any pets in the Buyer’s household other than ones listed under this Guarantee. Puppies are able to transmit illnesses to other pets. Taking a new puppy to your home may put your other pets at risk for illness.
  6. In order to qualify for any conditions within this guarantee, the Buyer agrees to furnish The Precious Puppy with any veterinary statements. Originals are preferred, but in most cases a copy will suffice. Buyer is responsible for furnishing originals upon request.
  7. Total limited lifetime liability shall not exceed the purchase price of the puppy.  The purchase price of the puppy is defined as:  the cost of the puppy, microchip fee and any extended guarantee fees.  Purchase price DOES NOT include shipping and delivery costs.
  8. This Guarantee is Non-Transferable.
  9. The Precious Puppy is not responsible for any payments of veterinarian’s fees for examinations, drugs, x-rays, laboratory testing or any other treatment unless agreed to by The Precious Puppy in writing prior to the performance of such services. 
  10. If the need for a necropsy arises, the cost of a necropsy is the responsibility of the customer.  The Precious Puppy will reimburse the cost of the necropsy if the cause of death is found to be congenital.
  11. Burial or cremation costs are not covered by this guarantee.
  12. This guarantee is null and void if the puppy exhibits signs of abuse or neglect.

Applicable Law

The Precious Puppy web site is operated and controlled by Pet Centers of Indiana, Inc.  The laws of the State of Indiana shall govern these Terms and Conditions, without regard to principles of conflict of laws

Disputes

Proper venue for any dispute resolution proceeding shall be Marion County, Indiana. The Parties to this transaction, and their successors, assigns and heirs do hereby waive the right to trial by jury. The prevailing party in any such proceeding shall be entitled to an award for its costs and attorneys fees. This agreement represents the entire understanding between The Precious Puppy and Buyer. This agreement is valid only within the United States

DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

THIS SITE AND ALL INFORMATION, CONTENT, MATERIALS, PRODUCTS (INCLUDING SOFTWARE) AND SERVICES INCLUDED ON OR OTHERWISE MADE AVAILABLE TO YOU THROUGH THIS SITE ARE PROVIDED BY THE PRECIOUS PUPPY ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED IN WRITING. THE PRECIOUS PUPPY MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS TO THE OPERATION OF THIS SITE OR THE INFORMATION, CONTENT, MATERIALS, PRODUCTS (INCLUDING SOFTWARE) OR SERVICES INCLUDED ON OR OTHERWISE MADE AVAILABLE TO YOU THROUGH THIS SITE, UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED IN WRITING. YOU EXPRESSLY AGREE THAT YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.
