We at The Precious Puppy view our breeders as partners and our goal is to have a long-term relationship with them.  Our breeders understand that in order to remain in good standing with us, they must provide us with the best quality puppies available. Our breeders enjoy and value the relationship they have with us and are extremely motivated to maintain the high standards we demand and expect.

A major benefit of our relationship is that our breeders allow us to inspect their facilities at any time.  We use several exacting criteria to evaluate our breeders:

• Our breeders must have clean facilities and use proper sanitation.  
• The breeders’ facilities must provide adequate space and shelter for the needs of the dogs and puppies. 
  
• All dogs and puppies must be healthy and receive prompt veterinary care when needed.  
• Breeders must partner with a veterinarian and develop a health and wellness program for the dogs and puppies. This includes regular check ups, proper vaccinations, worming, and quality nutrition.  
• Breeders must keep accurate records and practice proper breeding protocol.  
• Our breeders must be in compliance with federal regulations, such as the Animal Welfare Act.  
• We judge individual breeders on competency, not on the quantity of dogs in their facilities.
• Our breeders understand that any issues discovered must be addressed quickly and to our satisfaction.
  

Another benefit of our relationship with our breeders is that we are able to provide them with feedback.  We maintain detailed records for all of our puppies, and we use these records to screen out potential congenital problems.  Once an issue is discovered, we are able to talk with our breeders and make the changes necessary to prevent future issues.  We are also able to track health issues and measure the effectiveness of our breeders’ health and wellness program.  The relationship we have allows us to exchange information on the best treatments for new strains of illnesses.

Our puppies are screened by our own qualified evaluator upon arrival.  Our evaluator has over 35 years of experience in the pet industry and is able to screen out potential problems before the puppy enters our facilities.  All of our puppies are checked by a licensed veterinarian before being offered for adoption.  We do everything in our power to ensure that each of our customers receives a healthy, quality puppy.
